FAQS
You don’t need to live in Suffolk to apply — we welcome applications from across the UK.
If you progress through the recruitment stages, you’ll be required to attend both a fitness and aptitude assessment day, as well as an in-person interview, all held within Suffolk.
If you’re unable to attend one of our face-to-face taster sessions in August, we encourage you to book onto the virtual session instead. Please also email our friendly recruitment team at sfrs.recruitment@suffolk.gov.uk to let them know you’re a member of the public.
You don’t need any formal qualifications to apply — we’re simply looking for individuals who are enthusiastic and committed to becoming a wholetime firefighter.
As part of our recruitment process, you’ll take part in a series of assessments designed to evaluate your suitability for the role. You can find out more about these stages here.
One of the steps includes a short maths and English assessment tailored specifically to the skills required for firefighting, which will take place during our aptitude day.
